I remember a posting on this list from about 9 months ago which asserted
that there was an article in a dental society journal that spoke to this
very issue, namely the making of a device for clarinet players.

I am both too lazy and too busy to do the research for you, but the
submittor of the original request should take the time to learn how
to make inquiries against what is now a gigantic data base of messages
from hundreds and hundreds of clarinet players.

The words that should be used for the search are "dentist" at a minimum.
Combining that word with others will reduce the quantity of responses
and should provide exactly what you are looking for in a few hours.
Go back to Dec., 1993 and start your search there. I could be wrong
in terms of how long ago I saw the posting.
