Hi gang,
I'm a big, big fan of Eddie's and I wanted to clear up some of the roomers
I'm hearing.

In regards to setup:
>From what I've heard he is actually playing Leblanc everyday, no kidding
He endorses the Concerto model that was designed by Tom Ridenour and has
been playing it steadily for about two years.

As for mouthpiece, he has his own line of them that are commercially sold
but I don't think he is playing it everyday... He very well may be though.
Does anyone know what else he has played in the past. The only thing I can
remember is that he used to play a Kaspar with a #5 or 5.5 Vandoren reed.
Ouch! Better yet has anyone tried his mouthpiece? Is it decent or a
gimmick?

Reeds: I think he's pretty much stuck on Vandorens. I think like 4's.

As for his training. He started playing tenor sax at 9 and took up the
clarinet at 13. He studied both with Joe Allard and later took clarinet
with Bernard Portnoy, Bonade, and others. He played in a classical high
school ensemble and many other groups through school and ended up with a
masters in clarinet performance ( I think...) from Juliard. Throughout this
time he was also playing in the old Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band.

My oppinions on Fred's question to follow in another message.

Hope this helps,
Mike Cassara,
Cleveland, Ohio
