Subj: cure for loose rings...
Date: Wed, 26 Apr 1995 15:59:28 -0400

I just found a remarkable cure for tightening up loose rings on my clarinet.

The ring around the bell and both rings around the barrel had become loose.
I called my local repairperson and was told to bring the instrument in
right away, because leaving the rings loose could lead to cracks in the
instrument. But, I considered an alternative. I transported the instrument
to Costa Rica for a week. A miracle happened. Even though I left it in
the hotel while I visited the rain and cloud forests, by the end of the
week the rings were no longer loose! They tightened all by themselves!

Of course, now that I'm back in Chicago, I'm moistening the little green
snakes that I keep in the case..... :)
