Thanks to those of you who responded about the recording. Now that I know
something more about it, I'll mention that I very much liked the player,
but the piece didn't do much for me (the octave breaks and register shifts
were too obvious since I know the bassoon original pretty well). So now I
have to find a copy of Manasse's concerti recording.

BTW, that chemical pH indicator is spelled "phenolphthalein", and is an acid
type indicator and changes from colorless in acid solution to red in basic
solution over the pH range 8.0 - 9.6. (That range is entirely basic,
neutral being pH 7.0)
