You said you wanted analyse the "folk elements" in the Copland. I imagine
by that you mean the jazz roots (as presented by Copland). A more
interesting angle to look at the work would be to look at the different
interpretations recorded, the jazz medium being as it is, highly
personal, subjective and interpretive. No other work that I know of in
the clarinet repertoire has such a wide variety of interpretations. I
know this is not the thesis of your paper, but this is a discussion group.
