I'm hoping that someone can help.

I use a Sounds of Woodwinds string ligature-black plastic, with braided nylon
string that holds down the reed. I love it, as it plays considerably more
"open" than the old metal ligatures (Does anyone still use these? Every
player I see has some other kind of ligature these days) and I don't
particularly like the ones that have some kind of black rubber band across
the reed. Anyway, the plastic housing on my ligature is cracking after about
15 years of playing, and I want to get another one )or some other kind of
string ligature) before it falls apart in the middle of a gig. Anyone have
any info?

I'm also curious if anyone has experience with the Selmer 55 series, 19 key 7
ring articulated g#. I have a Bb/A pair that I got a while ago, and while I
don't want to give up the articulated g# and the left hand eb, I have
intonation problems on chalumeau c-eb, which are decidedly sharp on both
horns. I'm playing an Opperman mouthpiece with about 2 1/2 reeds and the
stock barrels, if that helps.
