I'm not sure if this is the proper place to do this or not, so bear
with me if I do intrude.
I have a piece I've been working on for Concert Band, which is about
half finished (2 movements out of 4, with No. 3 started). There is, here in
Iowa, precious few emsembles with which I have access that could give these
pieces a reading for an objective review of them.
The main problem is the size of the ensemble required - a large
percussion section (7 players minimum), along with a piano player (not
required, but recommended in some places), a Piccolo player, and Bass
Trombone player - the last two aren't unusual, but you'd be surprised how hard
both of them are to find out here in Iowa!
I can provide copy of score and parts for both movements (no
orchestrators and copyists for me, so I do it myself - they say my script is
quite readable), if the recipient can provide a tape of the reading along with
their comments. The pieces aren't terribly hard, though a little rehearsal may
be needed for No. 2.
Is there anybody out there who can help me? This is a crappy time as
far as schools are concerned for doing this, but I am faced with precious few
other choices; given the workload of the struggling, isolated composer-wannabe
I face, I really would prefer to hear what's written before I use a bad section
all throughout the rest of the work.
If anybody can give me some help, e-mail me privately and I'll fill you
in on what you'd get. Thanks in advance!
