Bill,

I have had a similar problem with my shoulder and upper back. I do
have tendonitis in my wrist and forearm, but all of the issues are
related. I have been going for physical therapy twice a week for the
past month. We have basically been doing stretching exercises. The
doctor found in my case that since I tend to lean forward, the muscles
in my lower back are not strong enough to hold my upper body straight.
You mentioned that it was your right arm and shoulder...do you carry
your clarinet with a strap over that shoulder? If you do, then there
could be a chance of a pinched nerve that it is irritated.
