My experience is that all of the notes above the staff tend to be
difficult to attack smoothly unless the lower lip is stretched quite
tight downward against the reed, i.e., with the lower jaw pulled downward.

I find that when I do this, the upper notes can be attacked quite smoothly
and gradually from ppp to fff.
