To remove a stuck rung try something which has a small hook-like end. If you
have a crochet hook, or woodwind spring hook; maybe the pointed end of the
old fashioned beer bottle opener known as a "church key"; the pointed tip of
a spiral corkscrew; a bent paper clip or wire. One of these should catch
between the ring and the barrel. When you get it out throw the ring away and
find a smaller one. You don't want to go through this all the time. It's
better that the ring be loose...it won't fly across the room; just be careful
when you disassemble. Lee Callet
