Earlier I mentioned the existence of an LP recording by David
Campbell. The specifics for this album are as follows:
Label- Crystal - Recital Series
Record # S336
Contents - Debussy: Premiere Rhapsody, Petite Piece; Bozza: Aria;
Pierne: Canzonetta; Lutoslawski: Dance Preludes;
Gade: Four Fantasy Pieces
The pianist's last name is York. I don't know if Crystal Records
is issuing older LP's on CD or not. This is a lovely recording.
Speaking of lovely old recordings, does anyone know if Decca has
re-issued any of the old Reginald Kell LP's on CD? I'm especially
interested in the one that contains the V-W SIX STUDIES IN ENGLISH
FOLKSONG. When I was a HS student in the late fifties, a local music store
brought Mr. Kell to town to give a clinic. One of the featured works on
his program was the V-W piece. His performance of them was one of the most
musical things I've ever heard.
