Hello!! It's been my experience that both brands have good horns available
SOMEWHERE! I play on a Yamaha...because this horn played the best out of all
of the ones I sampled before the purchase. My instructor prefers
Buffets...and is always trying to help me locate a Buffet that plays better
than my Yamaha. I would recommend simply playing on several horns
YOURSELF......each horn will operate differently for individual people. Thing
s to consider are: mouthpiece used, reed brand and strength, oral cavity,
lung capacity, etc. Many things will affect how well a horn will play.

I have also noticed that (generally speaking) Yamahas are found predominately
down south and Buffets are more abundant up north. Yes, this is a
generalization....but, it's what I've noticed.

MIchelle
