Claudia commented (17 MAR 1995) on the plating wearing to the copper on her 1987
R-13. I'm sorry to report that I find the same poor plating on the R-13's my
students have gotten in the last number of years - copper showing within a year
or so. I'm also seeing the same thing on my Leblanc Concerto. I feel this is
a very poor comment on current manufacturing. My students' silver-plated
Buffets haven't shown any wear, and I for one would LOVE the luxury of nicely
gold-plated keys. Ted Jahn in Athens Georgia tells me he loves his old gold-
plated Buffet. If only the standard commercial gold plating didn't look so much
like gold crayon!
