I use a Pete Fountain crystal mouthpiece, however, I find that it makes a
more brilliant sound especially if you are in a big band setting and need
extra projection. I also use the new Rovner ED ligature. It works great. I
might recommend that you try a lower strength reed. This helps me maintain a
darker sound without loosing the edge.
