Take your intrument to a competent repair person and have the ring
shrunk. This is a common problem in the winter time when the
instrument dries out a little and the wood shrinks so the ring
should be made only tight enough so it cannot be turned on the bell.
It will tighten up as spring arrives and the heat in the buildings
is turned off.
