Since the topic is hot I thought I would throw in my two cents.

In the past I have played on Vandoren B45, 5RV Lyre, B*, Ridenour refaced 5RV

to name but a few.

Back in November I was doing some playing with a local symphony orchestra as
well as preparing for my first recital. At the time I was playing on the
Ridenour refaced mouthpiece and was having a horrific time with pitch and reed
compatibilty. This was part of a never ending cycle of problems that I'd had
with stock mouthpieces. I finally decided to bite the bullet and have a
mouthpiece made for me.

I first went to a friend who had gone through several mouthpieces and there I
tried a Pyne mouthpiece. Well it was not exactly what I wanted, however I felt
that it was far superior to anything I had used previously.

In my increasing desperation I decided I would take a drive (9 hours) to
Columbus, Ohio and have one made for me.

Well it was the best 18 hour (return) drive of my life. I love the mouthpiece.
Not only is the pitch very good, but it has excellent reed characteristics in
that it will play most anything. And the sound is phenomenal, with excellent
projection, and great flexibility.

I would recommend Mr. Pyne's mouthpieces to anyone!
