" Mouthguard material" is a fairly firm plastic material which
I have used for over 15 years to protect my lower lip when playing
clarinet for long periods.
I cut off a piece a little larger than I need and heat I in
boiling water for a few minutes. I then pick it up in my fingers (the
surface cools quickly) and fold it over my teeth and press it to shape
it to suit. Cold water will firm it up and I cut off the extra edges
I don't want with the scissors. Holding it briefly near a hot flame
will soften the surface which then sets with a very smooth finish. A
little practice may be needed. I wash it under the cold tap after use
and brush it occasionally with tooth past.
Mouthguard should be available at most dental suppliers. Mine
is made by National Keystone products Co.,616 Hollywood Ave.,Cherry
Hill, NJ 08002. The sheet is 5"x 5"x 0.150". I havn't used up my
first sheet yet. (And I obtained it here in New Zealand!)
