Mike, did you wash your mouthpiece in hot water by any chance? The only
time I've seen that happen is when I've washed mine in hot water. The
entire thing turned a sort of olive/puke green except for where my
ligature had rested all those years. Eventually, it faded back into
normalcy and wasn't a problem. It didn't seem to diminish the
timbre/response of the mouthpiece at all. Hope this helps.
