Victor,
You asked about Carl St. Clair. After playing for him for five or six years
in the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra here in Ithaca, I agree with your high
estimation of Carl. He last returned here a year ago fall for a concert
including Ginastera Variations. He was as intense, focused, and musical as ever
. I believe the New York Times loved him with the Philharmonic as well. (He
debuted with Ginastera and Daphnis et Chloe with them.) My guess is that
assuming the Pacific Symphony doesn't go down with the rest of Orange County,
that he will create a wonderful orchestra out there. MG
