True -- this would certainly help. However, I once played Suite 3 for a
master class (for amateurs) on recorder. (Coach was a recorder player,
cellist and gambist). One of the main points I was told was to _take the
time to breathe_ when I needed to. These are expressive solo pieces and
there is no conductor waving a baton to force us to keep exactly to the
beat. Of course, this has more to do with general interpretation than
with just finding place to breathe.
