I have never had much luck with modern Meyer's, but you are probably a
better player. I use an older Meyer 5 rubber. In a big band setting I
found that a Runyon works really well. I did try the orange
Conno-something that Marshal Royal used as lead in the Basie band, but it
is a little dull on a Selmer. The more modern Runyon I found to have a
nice sound, good intonation and good projection. I have never heard of
anyone using a metal Meyer, so someone else will have to answer that
one. You might also consider a metal Otto LInk, if a metal is what you
want. It worked for SOnny Stitt, but then he mouthpieces have changed.
I would strongly urge that you try a Runyon.
