There is a concerto by Bruch for viola and clarinet. It is a very nice
romantic work. I heard that Luciano Berio is working on a clarinet/violin
double concerto, but it's not done yet, and it would probably be too hard
anyhow.

I think your best bet is convincing your violinist friend to learn the
viola part to the Bruch.
