Hi Andrea,

I have some good news and some bad news. The Coast Guard Band has advertised
for bass clarinet/tenor sax double. The bad news is the position was filled
this past summer. I was the bass clarinetist before that and just wanted to
switch back to Bb.

You and anyone else on this list might be interested to know that there will
be two new openings for clarinet in the Coast Band with auditions this June.
An announcement will soon follow.

I've never seen any military bands, when advertising their
clarinet openings, solicit auditions for bass clarinet openings. I've
only seen openings for "clarinet" advertised. Do the bass cl. players in
military bands really hang around that long =) or should I respond to
the "clarinet" openings as a bass clarinetist? I've been thinking about
auditioning for military bands, but never see bass openings advertised...
