THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD BAND
TWO OPENINGS FOR SECTION CLARINET
PRELIMINARY AUDITION TAPE DUE: MAY 31, 1995
AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD: JUNE 21, 1995
AUDITION TAPES
A preliminary audition tape is required of all applicants. The content of
the tape is up to you. Cassette tape will be fine. After we listen to your
tape a letter will be sent advising you of what action to take. All
auditions are held in the Band offices in Leamy Hall at the Coast Guard
Academy in New London, CT.
LETTERS OF APPLICATION
Letters (resumes) should include the following information:
name marital status (no. of dependents)
address prior military service
soc sec no. personal opinion of physical health
phone no. citizenship
instrument(s) educational backround
date of birth professional experience
TRAVEL EXPENSES
Unfortunately, no government funding is available to cover expenses incurred
by persons traveling to and from auditions at the Academy.
STANDARDS
Entrance into the Coast Guard Band requires meeting not only the necessary
musical standards but all standards required for entrance into the Coast
Guard, including number of dependents and weight restrictions. For any
situations that are unclear regarding eligibility for enlistment it is
suggested that detailed information be obtained from the nearest Coast Guard
recruiter prior to auditioning.
