Several years ago when I was at the dentist having my teeth cleaned I
told him that my lower teeth sometimes would cut my lip when I played,
and he suggested that he dull the sharp edges of my teeth. He proceeded
to do so, using what looked like a very small abrasive disk. It only
took a few seconds and did not hurt - he didn't even give me a shot. And
since that time, my lip has been much more comfortable. It's still
possible to make my lip raw if I play too long or skip practice too many
times (horrors!), but it certainly has helped.
