Regarding Clarinet/Guitar
Since there seems to be some genuine interest in music for clarinet and guitar,
I would like to bring everybody's attention to a wonderful piece by Filippo
Gragnani (pronounce "Gronn Yanni") called "Quartetto per violino, clarinetto e
due chitarre", a.k.a. Quartet for Violin, Clarinet and Two Guitars", opus 8.
It's a piece for somewhat advanced players - especially the guitar parts, but
what music! It has tremendous character and feeling, with sections of simple
joy to somber melancholy, to rousing technical fireworks. The unique
instrumentation gives it an unusual sound - which is why it's important to have
good players on each instrument, because achieving the proper balance and
effect is particularly challenging.

I played this piece during a recital in college a few years ago. It's for
clarinet in A. I bought the whole set - full score and each individual part -
for $50. I then just xeroxed the parts and passed them out to each player. My
originals are still pristine and untainted. Your best bet for finding this
piece would actually be to go to a guitar music specialty store (there happens
to be one here in San Francisco near Park Presidio and California Streets - I
can be more exact for anybody seriously interested).

The edition I have is "Edizioni Suvini Zerboni - Milano". My Italian is a
little rusty, but I suspect "Suvini Zerboni" is an individual's name (or
perhaps a publishing company), and Milano (Milan, Italy) is where this
particular edition is published. It also says "Revisione di Ruggero Chiesa" on
the front of the score, suggesting further specification of this particular
edition.

Good luck!
