There is a good book, complete with pictures, by Robert Schmidt, who
taught at Ithaca College, and studied repair with Hans Moennig while a
student in Philadelphia. It is "The Clarinet:Care and Repair". It was
self published, and handled by a music store in Ithaca, whose name is
escaping me at the moment. Bob's successor, Michael Galvan reads this
list, and may have the complete information more readily. Excerpts from
this book appeared in "The Clarinet" (quarterly journal of the Int
Clarinet Assn.) for a few years.

I also saw your post on Jimmy Hamilton. As a non-jazz player, one of my
favorite bits of jazz clarinet is from a live album, "Clarinet Summit"
(vol 1)[India Navigation Records, LP], where JH and Alvin Batiste play
Honeysuckle Rose. Just 2 clarinets, but does it swing. Also, I was blown
away by his playing on a CD reissue of some Ellington Orchestral Suites,
including The Nutcracker and Peer Gynt.

Let me know if you can't locate "Care & Repair" - I'll try to dig a
little deeper.
