In the absence of anything authentic, one is almost give liberty to
do as one wishes. But in point of fact, the surface texture of Mozart's
clarinet music (i.e., that which is authentic by virtue of an autograph
to examine such as the Gran Partitta or either of the two wind octets)
is much more exposed than the surface texture of Romantic music.

If one can extrapolate from this, one should use less tongue rather
than more in both the concerto and quintet.

In the case of the quintet, the NMA, as earnest an effort as it is,
is based on the earliest published edition (of 1803, I think), and as
such is not reliable. The slur marks in dotted lines means that that
is the way the editor thinks the music should go.

My suggestions: trust no one, use less tongue, decide for yourself.
