It sounds like David Niethamer had an interesting opportunity to be part of a
very different Rhapsody in Blue than I have so far played. This version is
apparently getting some use, so I will probably have a chance at it yet. My
wife reports that the work was played in its original form at the Italian
Spoleto Festival last summer. Also, the Coast Guard Band has played a
rendition based on this original score, although with somewhat altered
instrumentation. Unfortunately, this took place before I joined the band.

I'll look for the Musical Heritage Society recording. The pianist?
