Great! dave thanks.. been trying for ages to find out. my music store
had no luck with leblanc.. guess they didnt have the right number.
here is whatI found out

LeBlanc L70 (found out actually 1170)
SN# 37393 :

after 5 min of searching, dave found;.. was first sold on
Feb 26, 1974. The 1170 was the top of the line model then. It replaced
the L7 as the top model (wonder why ive seen bazillion l7s but never
another l70)... was made until late 70s.. replaced by other top models
like L200 L300 LX LX2000 etc.. ..

in freferring (posting on USENET) about how the keys and "bars-to-th-
pads" esp. on the 4 side register keys.. are badly "pitted" like from
corrossion .. (ther is every now and then the green corrowsion dots on
teh sides and undersides of keys that i i regullarly have to clena
off .. anyway i am concerned why the keys are so "pitted" being only
21 years old minus some change.. it ws like that when i got it in
1986.. oh well it has a beautiful dark, german sound.

Thanks dave. I'm quite surpised that horn is that young. hmm

on a side note:

abotu 2 weeks ago, even in the warmth of my room, all the end-joint
metal rings and the metal ring on the end of the bell (loose) were
fallign off.. no glue under them.. wonder why the wood had contracted
such in WARM weather.. theyve never done that before.. yet when i
pulle dit out of the case yesterday to practice some von weber, it
had expanded back , and one of the rings on the barrel was abtou half-way on
and i had to push and push to get it on.. strange. theyve never
fallen off before.. anyone had this kinda behaviour. they never were loose in
cold cold marching at halftimes.

anyway.. glad to be back on the best group again!!

Chuck
noodler since Aug 1982
(seems like i could play opus 74 von weber by now :)
