Benefits to Members

Beyond contributing to performance competitions,
new composition commissions and facilitation of
clarinet clubs on the local level, membership
includes:

-Annual subscription to The Clarinet magazine

The Clarinet is a 60-page, quality-printed magazine
published quarterly. It is filled with articles and
features on a wide range of subjects written by world-
class performers. teachers and scholars.

Topics include performance and pedagogy, care and
repair, acoustics and instrument design, repertoire,
history, reviews of new publications and recordings.
Reports on clinics, master classes and activities of
l.C.A. membership are also included.

Of special interest to many readers have been the
profiles and interviews of prominent performers,
teachers and craftsmen such as Benny Goodman,
Richard Stoltzman, Reginald Kell, Eddie Daniels,
Buddy DeFranco, Karl Leister, Robert Marcellus,
George Waln, Jost Michaels and Hans Moennig. In
addition, a continuing feature series has spotlighted
the players and their equipment from the world's

The I.C.A. Research Center is led by Dr. Norman
Heim. A comprehensive catalog of holdings can be
obtained by written request.

l.C.A. membership convenes each year in major
centers in the U.S.A. and other countries. The four-
day international conference offers:

-recitals/master classes by world-class performers
-lectures on a variety of subjects relevant to
teaching, performing and equipment
-the I.C.A. Young Artist Competition
-exhibits of instruments, new products, music and
accessories from leading manufacturers and music
companies
-a forum for fellowship and communication among
clarinetists throughout the world
