I hate to get in the way of the many interesting conversations going on in
this list, but we've been getting a lot of Listserv related messages the
couple of days.

Just consider this a preemptive strike to keep us from getting bogged down
in computer stuff.

1) All subscription commands should be addressed to a "Listserv" address.
Specifically, for Klarinet:

Listserv%vccscent.bitnet@-----.edu
^^^^^^^^
2) If you write a letter to Klarinet and get a non-delivery notice like,
"bubba@-----.com", not
Klarinet.

Non-delivery notices should be sent to the Listserv, not the author of the
message.

Every Internet site has a postmaster who is the computer geek in charge of
such things. So, in the above example, you would send your _polite_ request
for droid.com to get its act together to "postmaster@-----.

3) The Listserv assumes as its default that you read your own notes before
posting them, so it doesn't bother to send you a copy. If you want to see
your own writing send mail to:

Listserv%vccscent.bitnet@-----.edu
^^^^^^^^
with the message:

SET KLARINET REPRO

4) You can receive an acknowledgement note from the Listserv to confirm
that your message was received and distributed to the list.

The Listserv will send you something like,
"Your message, 'Are ground up reeds a good source of dietary fiber?' was
successfully distributed to the Klarinet list."

To receive acknowledgement notes when you post, send mail to:

LISTSERV%vccscent.bitnet@-----.edu
^^^^^^^^
with the message:

SET KLARINET ACK

5) For a list of common Listserv commands, send the command:

INFO REFCARD
