If you are sticking strictly to American composers of African descent,
then you are missing a really wonderful work. There is an Afro-British
composer Samuel Taylor-Coleridge (or Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, I forget)
who wrote a wonderful quintet for clarinet and strings. There is the
American composer Ulysses Kay who, I believe, has written for clarinet.
He may still be alive. I knew him years ago.
