I recently posted a message to KLARINET regarding the age of my Selmer Bb,
(Serial L5962) and have pieced togther that it's pre WWII, and does play
sharpish. Now that's not such a bad thing in a very hot climate, and I have
no complaints because all of my playing is with an accordianist. However, I
am keen to hear what people say regarding Richard Stoltzman's (unequivocal)
statement that after ten years, a clarinet dries out and it becomes un
playable, he goes on to talk about making lamp bases out of such "dry"
clarinets. What's this all about? Am I doing the impossible with a horn
that is 50 years beyond it's "too dry" date?

Can we afford to waste solar energy?
