I always carry a tube of pad cement, some matches, a pocket knife, and a few
pieces of cork. If you've got a gig to do and a pad falls off, you have to
fix it yourself. I just squirt some cement on the bottom, position it in
the cup, and if I'm in a hurry, heat the cup with the match to boil off some
of the solvent -- I've never had one come back off.

There was the time I was on stage playing reed one for "La Cage aux Folles"
and the pad came off the 'A' key of my picc during the overture. I was sure
that some beefy transvestite would squish it under a spike heel, but during
the intermission I crawled around on the floor & found it, glued it back
in, and its been there for years now.
