Yes, I am still around. I have been very busy and unable to
contribute but thought I would put my 2 cents in concerning Dan's
comments concerning Leblanc's new clarinet catalog.
First, thank you for the compliments on the aesthetics. Mike
Johnson is the head of our advertising dept. and is in charge of
these projects. Mike is a real asset to Leblanc and we are fortunate
to have him. The copy (text) in these catalogs are composed by several
individuals.
Tom Ridenour is a main contributor when it comes to sections
specific to specs and playing characteristics. The difficulty lies
with translating sound to the written word. In doing so, common terms
and expressions must be used in order for the explanations to be
understood.
The purpose of this and other catalogs is to give the reader a
general guide as to the characteristics of the different models. This
cannot take the place of playing the instruments. Playing is the only
true test of an instrument and that is our ultimate goal. We believe
the instruments will speak for themselves.
