Speaking of which, Conrad, I'm due to start rehearsing the 3rd clarinet part
of Mahler 1 in a week. I'd rather play that 4th E-flat part in the second
movement. The embouchure to pop out the last few notes in that E-flat duet
is a killer, especially when switching back and forth from bass.

I remember my first Mahler 1 experience, 20 years ago, 3rd clarinet part.
Had no E-flat and I was very young and inexperienced. I'm surprised the
instructor did not counsel us to switch the lines. I played the part on
B-flat. Actually, it was not too bad.
