I am currently performing the first clarinet part to Mahler's
fifth symphony and am having trouble interpreting the "Bells up"
sections. For those who are experienced Mahler musicians, how high do
you recommend that the bells go up? What is the intended effect of
the raised bells in the fifth symphony? Thanks for your advice.
