Subj: Recovery time after having tonsils removed

I have a friend who had her tonsils removed a few days before Christmas and
is having a hard time playing her clarinet. It is relatively sore, and her
throat is making a strange noise when she plays. It is almost as though
her throat muscles are weak or have to be retrained.
She is wondering if anyone has ever had this surgery(or had a student that
has) and how long it was before they started to play again.
