I'm glad there's this discussion on Eric Dolphy. I discovered his
music in high school, and he taught me to love my instrument, instead
of considering it as a novel way to get out of high school gym. His
version of "God Bless the Child" brought tears to my eyes the first time
I heard it.

Another clarinetist I'm a fan of is Beth Custer of Clubfoot Orchestra.
She's also a part of a world music group called Trance Mission, and
she plays clarinet, alto clarinet and bass clarinet in it. The instruments
include oboe, tabla (and other percussion), and a didgeridoo. The combination
of a bass clarinet and a didgeridoo is other-worldly. They have a CD
out and it's definitely worth a listen.
