I do agree with you Piotr. As a jazz musician and afficianado I would never
rank Stoltzman with the likes of Johnny Dodds, Don Byron, Eddie Daniels, or
John Carter. Anthony Braxton is too deep for me, I have never been able to
make anything out of his music, I have only however listened to one or two of
his albums so please don't take it the wrong way. It sounded kind of like
Sun Ra meets Chuck Mangione. ??.
On the other side of things, I would have to say that some of Stoltzmans
recent stuff such as the Bernstein West Side Variants piece I have mentioned,
showcase a sound and feeling so close to masters like Barney Bigard and Benny
Goodman that we must give him credit.
I see your point of view. I do not care for some of the synthesized stuff
with Bill Douglas at all. I will not bash it though.
I better get some sleep. Been up since new years.
Bye everyone
Mike
P.S. Mr Leeson, just out of curiosity, when was Stoltzmans flashing
incident? I'm beginning to like him more and more.
