Just thought I'd throw in my two cents! I'd have to agree with the
philosophy on Stoltzman. I really have difficulty listening to him play most
legit music...he tends to go flat, from my experience. David Shifrin is a
wonderfully lyrical player! However, my all-time favourite clarinettist is
Charls Neidich. I have been impressed by all facets of his playing...from
his articulation, phrasing, and interpretation to his overall stage presence
and even circular breathing. If anyone has not heard him live, I highly
recommend attending any concert that comes your way!!

I was involved with a masterclass of David Shifrin's....and he played with
our symphony. I was shocked that his sound was as "small" as it was....I was
expecting a much bigger--and much darker--effect.
