Dear Fellow Clarinet Enthusiasts,

As a recent joiner of this list I may be out of line, but I volunteer to
write and maintain a FAQ. I do not have answers for most of these questions
and have not read the list long enough to have seen previous discussions.
Also, if there already is a FAQ, please allow me to pause long enough to
wipe the egg off my face!

I will review the archived discussions available on the list server to get
as much info as I can, but in the meantime...

I humbly request that readers of this list EMAIL me their answers to the
following questions so the FAQ can contain Frequently Provided Answers as
well as Frequently Asked Questions. :-) Respondents will be acknowledged
together at the end of the FAQ so that the privacy of their opinions will
be maintained (unless they request otherwise).

I would like for the maintainer of the list server to contact me about
where the FAQ will physically reside.

My email address for this endeavor is vfreyer@-----. (This is subject
to change.)

I am open to suggestions for areas to cover. My first approximation is:

Mouthpieces:
What mouthpiece should I use to...
1) start out on - I'm a new student
2) get a darker or brighter sound
3) get the projection I need for jazz
4) play in tune on a <fillintheblank> clarinet
What mouthpiece does <greatartist> use? (...and why it doesn't matter)
Where can I buy or try out mouthpieces?

Clarinetists:
("Clarinettist" is listed in the dictionary as a secondary form.)
Who are the current greats (all genres) and why?
Who are the principals in the major orchestras?
How can I find out when <greatartist> is going to perform in <mycity>?
Has <greatartist> made a recording of <concerto>? (See Discography)
I'm going to buy <greatartist>'s recording of <concerto>. Is it any
good? (See Discography)

Study:
Who teaches in the <bigcity> area? How do I contact him/her?
1) beginner
2) intermediate
3) advanced
4) jazz
How can I play faster staccato?
How can I play more in tune?
How can I learn to sight read?
