As a recent lurker I thought it appropriate to give people an idea
of the range of experience represented by those monitoring these
conversations. As the husband of a professional cellist and the
father of a reasonably advanced 14 year old pianist (with whom not
more than three or four lessons and a couple dozen practice
sessions have gone by without my involvement), approximately six
months ago a bought a used R-13 (my 51st birthday) and started
taking lessons with Mike Cyzewski of Philadelphia, a Gigliotti
student-- and consider myself fortunate to have Mike in the area.
But the point in writing is to request reading suggestions-- the
tender lip and weak embouchure will only support so much practice
time. I've got Keith Stein's _The Art of Clarinet Playing_, and
I've read Denman's _Clarinet_ and the old Bonard Legacy articles
in the Clarinet magazine. It would be terrific if somebody had
more of the Bonard writing on a disk for upload, or anything else
that continues with issues of variations in school and/or practice
technique. I appreciate my exposure to the information that's
passed through here during my short exposure to it, and I
appreciation any info other's provide in response to my comments.
(An afterthought: is Bonard's book on reed and reed preparation
still approved technique?)
