This sounds like an interesting idea. I am confused however as to what
would be classified as "undesirable overtones." It seems to me that the
addition of a wooden bell would change the sound so that it more greatly
resembled that of a soprano clarinet. I personally prefer that unique
bass clarinet sound and I'm not sure I'd want to tamper with it.
Personally I prefer playing on a low C bass (if its working!!!), I get
a more resonant sound. Of course that could have something to do with the fact
that the Selmer low C I play on has had every pad outfitted with resonators!
