Bill, it is for the low C bass that I am having the wooden bell made.
You understood it correctly. My objective is improvement in the
character of sound. Tell me why you think that the experiment is of
less value for a low C bass than for a low E-flat bass.

I should add that if this experiment is successful, I will then have
the same thing done for my A bass (which is low E-flat), and both
basset horns.
