David,

Oops, somehow I sent an incomplete reply. As I was going to say, interesting
stuff on Rico. This forum is really opening my mind relative to accepting
that companies like Rico and other brands are changing and experimenting and
growing. I'm certainly willing to try anything once. My trepidation lies in
old preconceptions about brands like Rico because their product really was so
bad years ago. Time to update my state of mind. This goes for the subject
of clarinet makers as well. Clark Fobes' commentary on the newly designed
Buffet R-13 included remarks about other makers and the notion that they have
the potential to produce items comparable to Buffet in quality and
performance. It's good to be young (I'm 24), so I have this time as I grow
musically to explore and understand the full spectrum of possibilities
relative to reeds, instruments, and all other aspects of being a clarinetist.

Thanks for the information on these new quarter-strength reeds. I might find
myself buying a box or two in the near future to see how they work for me.

Neil Leupold.
