opposed to this method. A good pin is a very effecacious means of
repairing a crack.

Without seeing your clarinet it is tough to second guess the procedure,
but I am usually NOT in favor of installing tone hole inserts. The main
reason is that no matter how well the replacement part is made it MAY
eventually seperate from the glue and begin to leak. I think an insert
can be an invitation to a whole new set of problems. I have made tone
hole inserts, but usually only in cases where the tone hole is damaged.

Once a crack is pinned and stabilized parafin can be worked into the
crack to seal it. Check the tone hole every couple of weeks at first and
re-apply parafin if necessary.

I do't know where you are studying, but you could not be so far from a
major repairman that you could not ship it.
