Neil,

Well I wouldn't say that we get garbage from Vandoren. The point that
I'd really like to emphasize is that there is a very good project
going on by the Rico Corporation. Marcus Eley started a study to
develop the quarter strength reed. I really liked the reeds that
they sent me. They played quite well and with little work.
So from my point of view, I think that it would be better for
clarinetists in the United States to support such a good endeavor.

The survey was very comprehensive and our comments on how each of
the strengths played was weighed heavily. Consistent reeds are
available in strengths 3, 31/4, 31/2, 33/4, and 4. I feel that
the consistency of the Grand Concert is similar if not better than
the V12.
