I HATE playing on reeds that are not good, even when practising.
To me it is a waste of time. Granted, some reeds are better than
others, and I do try to reserve these for performances. Other reeds
get better with adjusting, and some have a short life between the box
and the garbage can!!
A few weeks ago, Barb Longair mentioned reeds made by Keith McLeod,
pricipal clarinet of the Victoria symphony. I can highly recommend
them also; they are made from very good cane, and are the most
consistent reeds I have ever tried (they beat V-12's by a mile).
They are also long-lasting if you rotate several at a time. Send me
a message if you are interested in getting Keith's phone number.
The reeds are $30. a box, which sounds expensive, but Keith will
measure your favorite reeds and match the dimensions.
